Field-recording of wind in mainly coniferous trees on a cold winter's day in the mountains. This is a residential recording, taken near a playground and a parking lot. Recorded in stereo with the zoom h2n recorder. Similar to "windy winter day, wind in trees, leaves, metallic object rattling" except that this was recorded at a greater distance from the trees, on a nearby porch.

I feel this recording captures the serene, but sad, sound of dry leaves in the fall being scattered about by a strong north wind. Recording made with the marantz pmd661-oade, and the incredible beyerdynamic me58 microphone. Since this particular microphone is a dynamic microphone, i had to crank my record gain up to 7. I was really happily surprised that the sometimes un-listenable wind-roar and wind rumble is barely noticeable on this recording. . . . . . Emjoy this autumn soundscape.

A recording in the midwestern forest made on sunday september 27th, 2015 around 3:00pm in early autumn. At this time of the year a lot of the summer neo-tropical migrant songbirds either have left for their winter home, or, are quieting down and preparing to leave. During this transition period in early fall the woods are not as loud as, say, three weeks ago. Even the insects seem subdued. At around 12 seconds into this recording you hear the squeaky call of a tree-frog. Recording made with marantz pmd661 and two sennheiser me-66 microphones mounted on a tripod about 4 feet above the ground.

It's not rain but sounds like rain - fog and damp settling in the trees as a breeze blows. Recorded in the fields above my home in the fog and damp - so sounds amplified and 'hollow'. I live on a lake and this is what my back patio sounds like every night. They live in the branches of the weeping willow trees that dip down to the water. The sound starts with one frog, then a few join in, and soon there as a chorus of them on all ends of the lake in all tempos going at once. Then when a crescendo is reached, they all start to stop one by one until it's silent again. But the silence only lasts for minute, and then the cycle repeats. I don't know if it's some huge frog mating ritual, or family reunion.

A recording made february 24th, 2019 in a residential section of a small midwestern town. . . The stiff north winds are rattling the remaining dry leaves. . . You will also hear the subtle singing of the birds that always greet you in late winter. . . Birds like house sparrows and starlings. From time to time, you'll hear the tinkly, nice sound of some wind-chimes hanging on the front porch of some house. The skittering of dried and old leaves scooting across the ground also makes an appearance. Enjoy this cold late-winter soundscape!.
